Terms of Service

These Terms of Service govern your use of Verbaroo (the “Service”), operated by Verbaroo (“we”, “us”). By creating an account or using the Service you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

Verbaroo provides practice material and automated feedback for the TEF Canada and TCF Canada French examinations and the CELPIP-General and IELTS General Training English examinations, covering reading, listening, writing and speaking. Written and spoken responses are evaluated by artificial intelligence against publicly documented examination criteria. Practice questions, pictures and recordings are original material created for Verbaroo with the help of AI; the voices you hear in recordings and from the speaking examiner are AI-generated, not real people.

Verbaroo is an independent study aid. We are not affiliated with, authorised by, endorsed by or connected to the organisations that create or administer the TEF, TCF, CELPIP or IELTS examinations, nor with Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada. All third-party names and trademarks belong to their respective owners and are used only to describe the exams our material prepares you for.

Scores, CEFR levels, and NCLC or CLB levels shown in the Service are automated estimates generated by AI models. They are intended solely to help you practise and identify areas to improve.

They are not official results, and we do not warrant that they:

• match the score you would receive on an official examination;
• are accurate, complete or free from error; or
• will be accepted by any government, institution or third party for any purpose.

You should not make decisions about booking an examination, submitting an immigration application, or any other consequential matter in reliance on these estimates alone.

Nothing in the Service constitutes immigration, legal or professional advice. Information about NCLC or CLB levels, Express Entry or immigration programmes is provided for general context only and may become out of date. For advice about your circumstances, consult a licensed immigration consultant or lawyer.

You must be at least 16 years old and provide accurate information. You are responsible for keeping your password confidential and for activity under your account. Tell us promptly at support@verbaroo.com if you believe your account has been compromised. One account per person; accounts may not be shared or transferred.

You agree not to:

• copy, scrape, republish or redistribute our practice content, or use it to build a competing product or train a model;
• attempt to gain unauthorised access to the Service, other accounts, or our infrastructure;
• interfere with the Service, circumvent usage limits, or submit content that is unlawful or infringes someone else's rights;
• use the Service to impersonate another person.

Some features require a paid subscription. Prices and billing frequency are shown before you purchase. Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled; you may cancel at any time and will retain access until the end of the paid period. Payments are processed by Stripe under their terms.

Except where required by law, payments are non-refundable. We may change pricing with reasonable notice.

The Service, including its practice material, design and software, is owned by us or our licensors and is protected by intellectual property law. We grant you a limited, personal, non-transferable licence to use it for your own exam preparation.

You keep ownership of what you write and say. You grant us a licence to process, transmit to our AI providers, store and display your responses solely to operate the Service and provide your feedback and progress.

We aim to keep the Service available but do not guarantee uninterrupted access. We may modify, suspend or discontinue features, and rely on third-party providers whose outages may affect the Service. Timed practice exams depend on your device and connection.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for any examination result, immigration decision, lost opportunity, or costs incurred in reliance on the Service. Our total aggregate liability is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or CAD $100.

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions, so parts of this section may not apply to you. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if you breach these terms or to protect the Service or its users. On termination your licence ends; the sections that by their nature should survive will survive.

These terms are governed by the laws of British Columbia, Canada, and the federal laws of Canada that apply there, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. Disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of British Columbia, unless mandatory consumer-protection law in your place of residence provides otherwise.

We may update these terms. We will change the date at the top and, where the change is significant, notify you in the app or by email. Continuing to use the Service after a change means you accept the updated terms.
